Rules and safety
A few rules keep everyone safe and keep the club welcome at Mt. Holly.
Helmets
Students wear a helmet at all times on the hill when they’re with the club.
Supervision
Students need to manage on their own at the hill. The sponsors, Marlette Community Schools and Mt. Holly don’t supervise children. If your child can’t be on their own, a parent or guardian needs to come with them.
Stay on your patch level
Students ride only the lifts their patches allow, and show every patch they’ve earned. Ski patrol, the ski school and lift operators check. See Lessons and patches.
Gear
- Never leave equipment unattended. Use the free corral, or a locker for 75 cents.
- Bring your own lock if you leave gear anywhere unsecured.
- Mt. Holly, the club and Marlette Community Schools aren’t responsible for lost or stolen items.
Food and the lodge
- Takeout and restaurant food isn’t allowed in the building; that’s a health department rule.
- Packed (brown-bag) lunches can only be eaten in the Café fireplace area, never in the lower main Slope Side café.
- Tables can’t be saved. Pick up your things and leave the area clean.
- Be respectful and courteous to everyone.
Dress for the cold
- Wear warm layers with a waterproof outer layer.
- One pair of socks is better than two.
- Bring a hat, gloves or mittens, and a neck gaiter.
Forms we need from every student
- The Parental Permission and Insurance Affidavit. Ask a sponsor for this season’s form; a parent and the student both sign it, and you hand it to a sponsor at the club table on or before your first club night. The club and Marlette Community Schools don’t provide insurance.
- Mt. Holly’s rental disclaimer, if you rent. See Rentals and gear.
